Top 7 Hostels in the World in 2010

Last week took place in London, UK, the Hoscar 2011 Awards, to recognize the top hostels around the globe. On this ceremony, the top 3 hostels were from my capital of the country where I’m now living, Lisbon. By definition, hostel is like a budget oriented hotel, providing sociable accommodation where guests can rent a bed, usually a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, although private rooms may also be available. Hostels are generally cheaper for both the operator and the occupants; many hostels have long-term residents whom they employ as desk clerks or housekeeping staff in exchange for free accommodation:

1. Travellers House

The Travellers House is ideally located in the most historical and central area of Lisbon, (Baixa), within walking distance to all major attractions, and interesting spots of Lisbon, with a super transport network at your door. Open since April 2005, the LLH was the first Hostel in Lisbon. Moved in March 2007 to the Rua de Sao Nicolau 41st, Lisbon’s Downtown (Baixa) , Lisbon’s Heart!
